The Bay Windjammers
Onstage 3pm to 4:15pm
No other band in Northland, or perhaps anywhere in New Zealand, comes close to matching the Bay Windjammers for longevity. Appreciative Bay of Islands audiences have been tapping their toes to their lively swing and dance band beats for well over forty years!
Stalwarts of the Windjammers are two venerable musicians; Jim Riley on piano and Alan Orams on guitar. Jim is in his late eighties, and Alan in his early nineties. But don’t let their ages fool you! Maybe they can’t walk as briskly any more, but they can sure push a swing rhythm along at just the right pace.
Onstage 4:30pm to 5:45pm
Imperfect Offering is a Leonard Cohen Tribute Band. When Peter McMillan, lead vocalist of Imperfect Offering, began playing the guitar in 1972, one of the first songs he learnt was Leonard Cohen’s ‘Suzanne’. Whilst having an interest in his music since then, Peter became a passionate follower of Leonard Cohen and his music when Cohen and his band performed in Auckland in January 2009.Inspired by the “I’m Your Man” tribute album and the tribute concerts performed during Cohen’s fifteen year absence from public performance, Peter decided to form a band to do a Leonard Cohen Tribute Concert here in New Zealand.
Onstage 6pm to 7pm
The Bootleg rock and blues band is a three man band newly formed in early 2013. The lead singer, Merv Pinny, is both vocals and guitar, with Bevan O’Brien on the drums and Paul Collecutt on the bass guitar (with a super tight rhyme). All three members are professionals in the music industry brought together by their love and passion for music.
Entertainment will include the annual Fastest Lemon Sucker competition and other fun entertainment in between the music acts.
